Angelica Panganiban open to working with Gretchen Barretto anew!

After a two-year break from soap operas, actress Angelica Panganiban said she is both excited and scared to shoot a TV series anew.

“Two years na ako hindi gumagawa ng soap, so medyo nakaka-excite na nakakatakot. Hindi ko alam kung ready na ako ulit mapagod nang ganoon. Iba ‘yung feeling [na] parang gusto mo ulit gawin,” she told ABS-CBN News.

Panganiban is set to star in her comeback soap with the working title “Mariposang Dagat,” which is rumored to also star actress Gretchen Barretto, who once had a feud with the young actress.

Following the cancellation of “Alta,” her planned TV project with Barretto, Panganiban said she welcomes the prospect of working with her former enemy.

Panganiban, whose last lead role in a soap opera was "Rubi," said she has yet to hear confirmation of Barretto also being part of “Mariposang Dagat” but added that she would have no problem with it.

“Hindi pa naman nasabi na kasama ko siya. Kung kasama siya, wala namang problema,” Panganiban said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

Although it has been two years since she last appeared in a primetime soap, Panganiban has been busy hosting the comedy-variety show “Banana Split.”

She has also been working on several movies for Star Cinema.

Her latest project, “Every Breath U Take,” which pairs her with actor Piolo Pascual, will be released on May 16.

On her leading man for the film, Panganiban said she already feels comfortable after having starred in several projects together.

“Excited [na ako sa pelikula namin ni Piolo], sobra. Nakakatuwa naman, at masaya syempre. Ang-tagal namin ginawa ‘yung movie, so in a way nakakalungkot din kasi sobrang bonded na kaming lahat, tapos parang patapos na,” she said. “Syempre si Piolo, kasi ilang beses ko na nakatrabaho, medyo mas comfotrable na ako.”

Panganiban is currently shooting another movie for talent management firm Star Magic's 20th anniversary, this time with John Lloyd Cruz.

Panganiban and Cruz previously starred together in the TV series “Maging Sino Ka Man” in 2007.

“Sa movie, iba [katrabo si John Lloyd] eh. Sabi ko nga, grabe nakaka-excite sa trabaho. Ang sarap,” Panganiban said. “[Na-discover ko] kung gaano siya ka-professional, sobra, para siyang ‘di napapagod, parang automatic siya. Grabe ang passion niya sa trabaho.”

Derek Ramsay thanks ABS-CBN!

Actor Derek Ramsay on Tuesday thanked his former network ABS-CBN after his move to TV5 was officially announced to the media earlier in the day.

“I’d like to thank ABS for everything you’ve done. You are a big part of who I am today and I’m very appreciative of that. Thanks and best wishes,” Ramsay said in his official Twitter account.

On Tuesday, the actor signed an exclusive, three-year contract with the No. 3 network.

No figures were announced, although sources from TV5 and ABS-CBN said before Tuesday’s announcement that the contract was worth P500 million for five years.

Ramsay’s transfer to the Manuel V. Pangilinan-led network was first confirmed by ABS-CBN in a statement on April 2.

“For months, ABS-CBN has exerted efforts to make him stay as a Kapamilya. TV5, however, offered him an amount that was difficult for him to refuse,” Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, said in the statement.

Anja Aguilar bagong pasisikatin ng Viva!

Bet na bet ni Boss Vic del Rosario ang bagong alaga nila na si Anja Aguilar. “Itataya ko ang pa­ngalan ko rito,” sabi ni Boss Vic.

Potential multi media superstar ang ‘prediction’ ng big boss ng Viva Group of Companies kay Anja na champion sa Little Big Star, ang dating singing contest para sa mga bata sa ABS-CBN, hosted by Sarah Geronimo.

“Hindi ko sasayangin ang oras ko rito kung wala akong nakikitang potential sa kanya. Sa kantahan, kayo na ang mag-judge. Ang galing. Sa aktingan, subok na ‘yan, mga walong beses na siyang nag-guest sa Maalaala Mo Kaya,” katuwiran ni Boss Vic na kilalang may ‘third eye’ pagdating sa mga kung sino ang sisikat at hindi.

Bata pa lang ay suki na rin si Anja sa mga singing contest kung saan-saang barangay kaya naman hasang-hasa na ang boses niya.

Hanggang manalo nga siya sa Little Big Star. Pumasok sa AMA Compu­ter School bilang scholar na part ng premyo niya bilang winner sa nasabing singing­ contest sa TV na pinagmulan din ni Sam Concepcion, hanggang ipinakilala ng taga-AMA kay Boss Vic.

“Nakita kong paano siya kumanta kaya nga nasa ASAP na siya,” dagdag ni Boss Vic na pinaka-in demand na manager sa kasalukuyan bilang galing sa kanilang kumpanya ang malalaking artista sa kasalukuyan tulad nina Sarah Geronimo, Anne Curtis, at marami pang iba.

Kaya naman agad siyang binigyan ng solo album ng Viva na magkakaroon ng launching next week.

Karamihan sa 10 kantang kasama sa kanyang self titled album ay original. Kasama sa mga nagsulat ng mga kanta sina Vehnne Saturno at ang hitmaker na si Christian Martinez.

Direk Wenn's comedic genius at work in Moron 5 and a Crying Lady!

Only box-office director and comedic genius Wenn Deramas could cook up a movie like this.

In Moron 5 and a Crying Lady, co-produced by Viva Films and MVP Pictures, direk Wenn is back in tip-top form, putting in harness his creative (yes, wacky!) mind that has produced blockbuster comedies like Petrang Kabayo and Praybeyt Benjamin.

Despite its title (that might be inspired by the popular band whose name sounds like it), the movie is hardly a musical.

Scripted by Mel del Rosario, Moron 5 and a Crying Lady is about five half-witted friends happily going with the flow of life until they are wrongly accused of killing the father of a Crying Lady.

Playing the Moron 5 are Luis Manzano, Billy Crawford, Marvin Agustin, Martin Escudero and DJ Durano, with John “Sweet” Lapus as the Crying Lady.

The five friends are aptly named: Luis plays Albert (Einstein?), Billy is Isaac (Newton?), Marvin is Aristotle (you know who), Martin is Michaelangelo (yes, “the one”) and DJ is Mozart (who else but “him”!).

Moron 5 is the first movie together of buddies Luis and Billy who have proven their mettle as TV hosts (Pilipinas Got Talent, etc.) and, they agreed, “We had fun from the start of the shoot to the finish.” It’s Billy’s first time to act in a comedy film and, although he’s more known as a singer, he said he realized that he could be a good actor. He’s set to leave for Europe to resume his rudely-interrupted career as a pop star there and might be back in July.

Luis has worked with direk Wenn, perhaps the only director who succeeded in making Luis bare his butt (in Who’s That Girl, with Anne Curtis as leading lady).

“This movie can draw more laughs than my previous movies ever did,” said direk Wenn.

In one scene, the Moron 5 does a macho dance. In another, during their escape from prison, they disguise themselves as Madame Auring (Billy), a Bombay 5-6 lender (Marvin), an old driver (Luis), a taho vendor (DJ) and a BB Gandanghari-type (Martin).

Moron 5 and a Crying Lady is a great upper after the gloom of Lent, opening in more than 100 theaters nationwide on Black Saturday, April 7.

Sharon Cuneta hits Twitter bashers!

Nabulabog ang Twitter world nang umalma na si Megastar Sharon Cuneta sa mga negatibong komento laban sa kanya gamit ang nasabing microblogging site.

Mula pa noong nakaraang linggo ay wala nang tigil ang aktres sa pagdepensa sa mga panirang-puri laban sa kanya at sa anak na si KC Concepcion. Maliban sa pagyurak sa kanyang pagkatao, ikinagalit ni Sharon ang isyung "abortionista" sila ni KC.

“Akusahan kayo ng anak mong abortionista tapos huwag ko patulan? Ano hahayaan ko pang ikalat nila? Sobra mga ‘yan. Mga bastos at walang modo. Dudumi ng bibig at pagkatao. Gawain siguro nila,” ani Sharon.

Suspetsa ni Sharon, die-hard fans ng aktor na si Piolo Pascual, dating nobyo ni KC ang mga basher niya sa Twitter.

“Kung hindi Kapamilya die-hard, maka-Piolo lang. Wala namang galit sa amin na ibang tao,” sabi ni Mega sa isa niyang follower. Dahil sa sama ng loob, halos ibunyag na ni Sharon ang dahilan ng hiwalayan ni KC at Piolo. “Since you won't stop bashing me and my daughter and it's all the same to you -- maybe it's time I talk and tell the whole REAL story. Okay? Tutal pareho lang eh. Tahimik kami bash kayo ng bash. Eh di kami naman kaya!"

Sa mga tweet ni Megastar, inilabas din nito ang sama ng loob dahil sa hindi pag-depensa ng binatang aktor sa lahat ng banat kay KC ng kanyang mga fans.

“KC never did anything to hurt him. He hurt her. And yes, we KNOW his fans are bashing her. We never start, we just react. Be careful. Nananahimik pa kami sa lagay na yan. Tama na kasi we should all just move on.”

“He can't say anything about KC [because] he has nothing he can say. He's a ‘gentleman’ for his image, not necessarily [because] he doesn't want to hurt anybody. Let's be honest and fair here. Ilang artista naman tulad nila Robin Padilla at Judy Ann Santos ang dumipensa din kay Sharon at nakiusap na huwag gamitin ang Twitter para makapanira ng tao.
