Gerald Anderson on his successful showbiz career: 'Wala na akong mahihiling kay God'!

Gerald Anderson was very happy with the success ofBudoy's finale even though his character didn't end up with a ladylove. More than anything else, it was an advocacy-teleserye that was meant to inspire people to pursue their dreams whatever the odds are. "Okayna rin kasi naging magandang inspirasyon naman si Budoy para sa mga bata. Siyempre mas maganda pa rin kung may love life pero ganon talaga. Alam mo yung pakiramdam na sobra kaming masaya dahil na-meet mo yung objective namin bago mag-startyung Budoy," said Gerald during the farewell party ofBudoy at Excess Bar in Quezon City last Friday, March 9.


The 22-year-old actor was also grateful because of the teleserye's positive impact on his life. "Malaking pagbabago talaga. I feel like I became a better person. It made me more mature, sobra. Mas marami na akong opportunity to help other people." A lot of people also commended him for his effective portrayal of a mentally-challenged character. "I thank Papa God na tinanggap ko yung trabaho [as Budoy].Ayoko rin akuin lahat ng credit because it was a team effort. Napakaganda ng samahan ng lahat ng cast, staff at crew on and off cam."

The success of Budoy was also one of the best gifts he received for his birthday last March 8. "Grabe talaga! Ayoko maging selfish. Wala na ako mahihiling sa kanya (God). Kung ano man plans niya para sa future ko, alam kong yun ang tama. Napakaganda ng mga blessings na ibinibigay niya sa akin lately." Asked if he would carefully choose his next acting project, Gerald simply replied, "Mas gusto ko talaga yung mga roles na makakapagbigay ako ng inspirasyon sa tao at may meaning yung ginagawa ko. And if that makes me picky,siguro mas magiging aware lang ako sa mga susunod na gagawin ko."

In the meantime, Gerald's excited to take some time off from work so he can catch up with his family and friends. "After Budoy, I'm going on a trip abroad. Let's see what happens, pahinga lang ng konti. Meron kaming Star Magic tour, then after that it's time to think about my next projects. [Sa ngayon] gusto ko mag-beach, gusto ko makasama yung pamilya and friends ko [at] gusto ko matulog," he beamed.
